Sunvic 2port univalve & actuator?

Anonymous user 16/03/2024 - 2.37 PM

Hi Last year my heating stopped working but hot water was still working - boiler was ok, everything appeared normal, except radiators not heating up. Heating engineer came out and said problem was with the valve thing (Sunvic valve as mentioned) not switching properly or something. He ordered a new one, fitted it and heating worked. The past week I've had no hot water, heating is fine - its like same scenario as last year, everything as normal, boiler firing up etc just no hot water this time. When I turn the hot water on at wall, radiators come on. Anyone have any ideas? I had someone else out to look at it yesterday and he thinks something has been wired incorrectly from the last guy but surely I would have had no hot water this whole time if that was the case. Its getting frustrating as the guy who fitted the valve in first place hasn't responded to any calls or messages asking him if he could come and have a look at it and the second guy seemed a bit baffled and he hasn't got back to me either.

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

I suggest posting this as a job and looking at various profiles to find an engineer who can identify and rectify a fault with wired heating controls. It sounds like a simple problem, you just need an experienced engineer.

Please post a picture of the valve the previous engineer replaced. If you have two valves it's likely that the other has failed (assuming a relatively small property). If you have one it sounds like a wiring issue (as previously mentioned) or a sticking valve body. IMHO. Get the previous engineer back to sort it out.

You said it was a two port and the 1st worked. It sounds like the hot water two port has gone. Get the 1st guy back to check it out , it shouldn't be any issue with his 1st job. or bring in a 3rd guy to check it.
