Painting & Decorating

Painting anaglypta or embossed wallpaper.

Anonymous user 16/03/2024 - 2.37 PM

why has my painting on anaglypta paper suddenly become so thick in places that the paint has filled in between the pattern and gives the look of just painting a flat wall? I have always used a Harris brush and never had any problems up until the past twelve months. It's as if I am dabbing the brush into one area and not brushing the paint out. I am absolutely clueless. I have ruined a ceiling and part of a bedroom wall now.

Are you using dulux retail emulsion? That will be a thick paint to apply on such a surface. In the areas where you cut in etc, i thin the paint out enough to avoid this and go over the paint applied with a 4 inch roller to further spread the paint away and lessen the thickness of paint film. Then roll the rest of the wall with a full size roller.

Sounds like your using the wrong tools. Cut in with a decent brush and roll in close with a up market roller. Anaglypta papers usually mean you have to be careful with the amount of paint you put on. Just watch for the heavy/flat edge. Roll the heavyness out 👍

If you want to do a proper job on that First you have to use Zinsser primer on the wall its up to you if you want to make just touch up or to paint all surfaces walls. I suggest all wall. And after use which paint do you like. Ps. Don't make pression when you paint the wall, the painter has to paint gentle this kind of walls , and the best think it's to use professional tools

make sure you have the correct tools for the job, if in doubt call in a professional.
