Best way to turn external rendered wall in to internal wall?

Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 3.17 PM

Hi all, We are planning on having a conservatory built to the back of our house, 2 walls from the house will be used turning them from external to internal walls. We have rendering covering the entire house, so I was wondering how would be the best way to turn these 2 walls into internal walls? Would it be better to try to remove the render then plaster & paint the walls, or is there something that can be applied over the render to create a smooth surface to paint? How is the best way to proceed with this? The room will be a playroom so needs to be a child friendly space. Thank you

Hey 1. I would use a scraper to remove any lumps of render and sand down if I wanted a sleek flat finish. ( test an area before doing large bits ) 2. Clean your surface, and make sure there is no dust/debris so the paint has a clean surface to adhere to 3. Apply Santex water based smooth masonry paint 2 coats 4. Sit back and enjoy your new walls, if there are kids that like to paint on walls id say do a 1m from floor coat of Interior Latex paint which is easy to clean / scrub Best of luck, Plan design and build

Hi, you could batten and board or even dap and board, that’s something we take care off as a project with the conservatory, stay safe regards Tony FWS Wales

You could have frame addon put between the wall and frames that touch the wall, this would create a space where you could baton off and plasterboard or dot and dab plasterboard to the walls.
