Front door fitted first or wall skimmed first
Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 3.17 PM
We are looking to have a new front door fitted, and also need the area/wall it is fitted too to be skimmed. Just wondering which order you would advise this be done in?
Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Personally I would suggest fitting the door first
If the door is a particularly tight fit the tapping into place could possibly crack the plasterwork

I would fit the door first as fitting door after may cause damage to the plaster work.

If hall being plastered ,do that first and leave reveals until new door fitted if there are reveals, always let moisture content to down first.
