What Lintel do I need?

Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 3.17 PM

I’m going to have a go and knock a doorway through from dining room to my garage. It’s a load bearing wall, I assume brick under the plaster, and it’s breeze block in the garage. What lintel will I need? X2 pre stressed concrete lintels? I can’t find the answer anywhere. Thank!

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Yes concrete lintels will be perfect. make sure you use Akro props (most likely you will need to use them with strongboys as well)

Hi ,You should really have a structural report to specify the type of lintel that is needed but i would suggest a steel beam or a 6x4 concrete lintel making sure that it is long enough to have 150mm minimum rest each side. x2 for double skin.
