Device to check for cables and wiring behind walls

Hi I'm currently doing some DIY at my home. Needing to drill into a plastered wall and a stud wall. What I wish to know is there a particular device to check for both cables and copper pipes. Just that I don't want to cut into anything by mistake. Once I know more I can source any products from my local toolstation or Screwfix or any other diy store. Any help would be appreciated. There are gd detectors but don't get a cheap one Bosch do one for around £90. Which detects a variety of things.
BUT. They are not 100 percent detectable. So be carefull.
