Removing internal walls

Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 3.16 PM

Hi, I am planning to remove two load bearing walls in my house. I had a structural engineer to do the calculations and I will get the beams installed by pros however my friend and my cousin will be knocking the walls down (they know how to!) my question is that do I need to inform building regulations and if so how and when? Thank you

Simple answer is yes you need to inform building control and submit The engineers calculations for approval prior to commencing work. Building control will want to inspect the work during progress to ensure it is done correctly. You will then receive an inspection certificate. One thing that concerns me is that two different team will be working on the project. Surely it’s better to get one team to carry out demolition and fit structural supports, they go hand in hand.

Inform building regs. Let them know and look . Better safe than the other one.
