Thermostatic Shower Dribbling Water

Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 3.16 PM

Hi All, We have had a downstairs shower newly installed, (https://www.victorianplumbing.co.uk/maverick-thermostatic-shower-panel-black-bsp001) it's connected to a new shower pump as our hot water pressure wasn't enough for the shower according to the plumber who installed it. Worked fine once, but today, after not having used it for a few weeks (as building work was going on) it is not working. I turn the shower on and water just barely comes out... I mean dribbles out and the water pump has not kicked in either. Any ideas? Would like to get some indication as to what the problem could be before I call a trade in to fix it or return the shower due to being faulty. UPDATE: I turned on the hot water tap in the bathroom, the shower pump kicked in and the shower works now....

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

If the pump comes on when the rap is turned on, the pump is fine. The normal issue that causes this is the check valves that are in the back of the shower. I’m guessing that there is very little head of water ie distance between bottom of water tank in the loft and the shower head. There is no easy fix without breaking water bylaws. If you can lower the shower head if it’s not fixed or turn your tap on to prime the pump the only 100% way of fixing the issue is to increase the head of water. I’ve made a lot of assumptions with this as it’s hard without seeing the installation but I used to work for a shower manufacturer and deal with issues like this on a daily basis. Hope it helps.

Air lock to hot supply to shower pump, faulty tap on new shower unit, Filters should be clean as shower pump and unit should be clean as new, Possible debri in heada tank. Service valves should be open as shower already been used.
