A pendant light fitting blows it's bulb after about two weeks; standard 60 watt bulbs.

The next light, which could be linked to it, blows it's bulb after about four weeks. I have stopped replacing these bulbs and now have no light in the stairs and landing. Any suggestions?

Either poor quality Chinese made bulbs or poor air circulation around the light fitting causing the bulb to overheat and fail prematurely. Best solution is to use a low energy light bulb that runs cooler. If you don't like the compact fluorescent type low energy bulbs invest in a more expensive LED type.
