Roof Truss not tall enough

Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 3.34 PM

Hello all I'm in the process of building two extensions, I have a problem with the smaller side extension, 7m 2.5m. This extension is a continuation of the Bunglalow roof and wall line. When I put the truss on the wall plate its approx 2" short not quite tall enough. The angle is all perfect I just need it lifted by 2" Wondering what the options are Can I double up on the wall have another 4x2" on top of my existing 4x2" wood Guess I would have to amend the tails for the soffits etc. DOES BC allow this? Do I add timber to the top of every truss (sounds a bit expensive) Removing the wall plate and putting another course of bricks would be a pain as its all fixed in Any advise much appreciated. Regards Andy

Hello, you can double up the wall plate no problem, are the new wall plates the same height as the old ones if so then if the trusses are 2in short the pitch cant be correct. If you raise the bottom then the pitch would be wrong. Its possible the trusses have been made wrong so I would contact the manufacturer first to check. Difficult to diagnose without seeing, hope this helps.
