Bricklaying & Repointing

My Blocks are off a few mil should I start over?

Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 3.34 PM

Hi Folks, I took on a building project at home recently. I wanted to give the job a crack myself for something to do and to learn something new but maybe I've made a mistake and I'm not sure if I should keep going or start over The project was to complete an extension to an outbuilding that had been started an abandoned some years ago. I was building up from the damp proof coursing. However, later when I chipped away at the plaster on the blocks under the damp-proof coursing I discovered that I start my blocks about 5mm off. Should I take it down and start over or bolt on a heavy metal angel, or is is there some other way deal with this? Thanks

Expose the foundation take away the first couple blocks & bricks, drill a wall starter fixing to the existing building, then relay the couple blocks and bricks makeing sure every 3 course of brick, 1 course of block you use the clips provided in the wall starter pack, use this continuously up the build or you can tooth out bricks and bond in that way.
