Bathroom Fitting

Replacing a bar valve for a traditional style thermostatic

Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 3.34 PM

Hi all I have a bar value shower fitted and the plumber used fast fit fixings, this is now old and I want to replace it for a more traditional look shower. I have removed the old shower but I am struggling to get the fast fit fixings off and I can’t see how or if the new shower would fit on to these. They seem to be stuck to the wall with silicone as well as screwed. Is this a diy job or should I get a plumber in? It’s my first plumbing adventure so any help would be appreciated.

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

My advice get a plumber. If you mean plastic push fit fittings, when you say fast fit fittings. The pipework will need altering and could be tricky if it's in the wall

fast fix fixings are usually a standard distance between showers hot and cold connections for a bar mixing valve so if you replace with a new valve ensure distances are the same. if your replacing with a more tradidtional shower you may have to alter the pipework.
