Leveling a garden 13-15 cubic meters top soil?

Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 3.34 PM

Hello I moved into as new build and I have a somewhat slowly garden. width 13meters depth: 11 meters From top to bottom is about a 8 inch difference worked it out roughly to about 13-15 cubic meters of topsoil? Can I just dump that much soil in my garden to get it level? What issues would I have?

0.203m * 11m * 13m / 2 = 14.5145m3 So long as you don’t pile up against someones wall or fence and the ground has good drainage, just chuck it on. It will compress over time and will need compacting somewhat. Probably need topping up next year if you have heavy traffic.

The main issues would be retaining the extra soil in the high points as this would be higher than the gardens surrounding you .It may be a better idea to put in two levels in stead as this would only need a retaining wall across the garden
