Confirmation of insulation in a roof

Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 3.34 PM

How can I confirm that my roof was insulated? If the roof was not insulated, how can it be rectified?

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

access the loft space and you will be able to see in-between the spars of the roof, if there is no insulation you could fit king span type insulation between the spars but be careful you need to leave a gap in-between the insulation and the felt membrane as the roof needs air flow or it will condensate and cause problems, alternately if your not using the loft as a room you could just roll out a rock wool type insulation onto the ceiling joists !!

Try lifting your loft hatch and put your head in see if there us insulation layed between the rafters it should be around 200mm thick if there is none showing you can pick it up and if confident enough climb in loft and lay it but be careful not to fall through the ceiling and always where a mask and gloves are get contractor to fit it
