Electric heaters? Often these ticking sounds which are present in hot water central heating as well are the sound of expanding and contracting surfaces due to temperature change when one surface meets another. If your heaters are on brackets then they ought to have a plastic bush on the mounting bracket to allow the heater mounts to slide across smoothly without the ticking sounds caused by jerky expansion. You may need to investigate further but it is propably related to thermal expansion and contraction.

This is due to expansion of the pipes when heated up. Much like when your gutters make that cracking sound in the sun.
