Bricklaying & Repointing

Can I mount a custom made mini gym on my garage wall?

Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.55 PM

I've a detached garage with an apex roof made of engineering bricks (the ones with the hollows in) I'm wondering if it would be strong enough to mount a metal frame which would hold a 30kg punch bag and a pull up bar ( I weigh 100kg) I'm looking at using shield bokts as the frame was delivered with Rawl plugs which in the past have just spun when I've put them in hollow brick. Your advice would be most appreciated. Thankyou!

Hi dan I don’t think The pull up bar is a good idea but I think the bag would work on the engineering brick providing you drilled correctly

Hollow bricks are not ideal fixing bolts to.I would be very careful fixing heavy frames onto this wall. Maybe consider a free standing frame for the punch bag. Maybe ask in a gym how they fixed their frames to the wall .
