Sliding door vs Internal door
Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.55 PM
Hi, are there any major differences between a door needed for a sliding door system than a standard internal door? I cant find a sliding door in the right size but have found a standard internal door that will fit.
Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Sliding door system completely different from hinged door so may need door stops to close against but as long as door will fit frame happy days

A sliding door will need extra room of course for the door to be housed when open. Therefore you will need the door width in space on the side where the door is to slide to.
Also a standard door is hinged from the frame whereby a sliding door needs track(s) and wheel system like a sliding wardrobe.
Its always best to get an expert to attend your property and you can then show them what your requirement is and get their professional opinion on what they are able to offer you.

A standard door is fine to make a sliding door. Whoever the frame is the area that will need adapting. A sliding door will not fit in a standard timber frame.
