New build house gas pipe for fireplace
Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.55 PM
Hi, I moved into a new build property 10 years ago, both living room and dining room have a capped gas pipe for connection to a fireplace. I want one of these connected but I am not sure where these pipes lead to? Will they already be connected to the gas supply? And if not, is there a standard place where new builders run them to for connection to the gas supply? Many thanks!

Hi.
You need a Gas Safe Engineer to meet regs. The pipework can be tested by switching off the gas at the meter. Then, take off the cap and fit a valve. Turn the gas back on and check for leaks - you can get an aerosol leak detector to check the joints.
Thanks & good luck.
