Boiler, water cylinder and immersion heater consuming too much?

Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.55 PM

We moved into a house which has a boiler + a water cylinder with 27” immersion heater (from 2001) as well as a cold water tank in the loft. The boiler is a Proterton Promax HE from 2002 The cylinder is an Albion Since we moved here we have been surprised by our electricity consumption which is massive. I am wondering if this is due to our water cylinder / hot water set up. Would you be able to tell me if the water tank is constantly warming the water? Since we are only 2 in the house, would it be possible to turn off the hot water cylinder system and rely only on the boiler to warm the water?

your boiler should be heating your cylinder, the immersion heater is for back up in case boiler breaks down, make sure it is switched off.
