Combi boiler and a blue tank with a pump in it

Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.55 PM

Hi there I just had a combi boiler installed all new rads and on natural gas (replacing the oil system) now my plumber has said the pressure isn't good enough and he has fitted a massive blue tank with a pump built in at a cost of 550 euro. I thought that the whole point of the combi was so I didn't need a tank? Plus this big blue tank with the pump in it is going into the garage..Will it be noisy as I'm converting the garage into a bedroom so can't have a big noisy tank in there.

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

your plumber should have checked you incoming main for pressure and volume, he should have checked it between 6am to 9am and 4pm to 9pm these are the times of high local usage , he should have done this before recommending a combi boiler.yes it will be noisy.

100% Agree with D & R. When recommending a system change you always check for water pressure and flow rate. There is a small salamander mainsboost pump you can install but its only really suitable for small dwellings. A booster set will be noisy.
