Who is responsible for damage to my garden wall
Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.54 PM
When I was having garden gates fitted the work man drilled into the pillar to fix the bracket and the pillar cracked. He is saying it wasn't his fault the wall was poorly built he removed the pillar and fitted a metal post to hang the gate on. I am now left with a gap between the post and the remaining wall. Who is responsible to make this right.

The works man because he drilled into the pillar and cracked it therefore that’s how resbonsbolity to make good of it again. If the Custemer isn’t happy with the gap that he has now made it’s his responsibility to sort it out if the customer didn’t want that in the first place.

If the builder causes any damage before the said job was carried out then it is their responsibility to rectify it.

Its really a no brainer
If the workman damaged the pier it is the companys responsibilty to reinstate it
Reguardless of condtion or how poorly it was built if it was standing before they arrived it should be standing after the work was completed
Hope this helps

Builder breaks? Builder fixes, if the builder does, the builder is to blame.
He should know how to use a drill without cracking brickwork, furthermore he should pay/fix damages done

In my opinion the guy who built the pillar is responsible as the pillar crack due to the centre of the pillar not being filled with solid materials ie.. Concrete this would have prevented damage to peir in this situation
