Carbon monoxide alarm beeps when I move it
Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.54 PM
I bought a carbon monoxide alarm as my house didn’t have one installed. I put the batteries in as it beeped which was fine according to the instructions. However, when I move the alarm it makes a short beep. It’s absolutely fine when it’s sitting still, just when I slightly move the alarm. Is this something to worry about?

Get a new one.
They only last 5-10 years before they stop working. They’re cheaply made.
Most of them don’t really work unless they’re in controlled conditions anyway.

Hello if it's doing something it shouldn't like beeping when you move it then I have doubts about it functioning correctly in an emergency situation. Will it work? Won't it? I would just buy a new one and a decent make. Screwfix and Toolstation have them for £12 upwards, Fireangel is a decent make and they usually have a 7 year lifespan. Follow the manufacturer's instructions with regards to location and remember to write the date of installation on the back when you fit it.
