How to eliminate damp patches in bedroom?

Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.37 PM

We live in a detached 1970s house and have a bad condensation problem in the back bedroom. We sleep with both windows on vent and the bedroom door ajar but in cold weather the ceiling near the outside wall is damp and the corners of the room are damp. The windows are full of condensation too. The house has had cavity wall insulation in the past and we have had the soffits replaced recently which removed some of the cavity wall insulation as it was filled too high. Do we need to put more insulation in the loft? The temperature of the wall where it's getting damp is a few degrees cooler than the rest of the walls and ceiling.

If ventilation is good and you are suffering condensation due to cold walls, I would (and have) line the wall with an insulation material; Wallrock kv600 (Google for info) I have applied this to a number of properties suffering the same problem. High condensation is often attributed to drying damp clothes on radiators. Also pets (dogs-heavy breathers) can cause light Condensation! Check loft is properly insulated Hope this helps
