What happens if i dont replace old roof feltjng?
Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.36 PM
My roof felting is getting old but i am a bit strapped for cash at the moment. Just wondering will leaving it longer to replace cause any additional problems in the long term? Also is it possible to do this job in the winter when its likely to rain? UPDATE- i do have a leak but its relatively small at the moment. If this is left would it make the job significsntly more expensive next year? If so would this be due to rotting boards

If there is no leaks or damage at the minute then there should be nothing to worry about immediately, and yes it is possible to change in the winter as long as all measures are in place to keep the roof dry whilst the felt is off

If there isn't a leak at present then it shouldn't cause any further issues, if it is leaking the boards will be rotten but any good roofer would quote for new boards as part of the job anyway.
And yes no issues with doing the job in winter, as long as the correct procedures are followed.

Hi, regarding your update where you state you do have a leak. Unfortunately now you do have a leak, yes it will potentially get worse and yes the longer you leave it probably the more it will cost you due to rot spreading further
