New Shower Pump comes on when hot water tap in kitchen is used

Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.36 PM

We have just got our kitchen redone and a downstairs bathroom (includes a shower etc) by our builder/plumber. The kitchen is finished , bathroom finished today, our plumber is due to come back tomorrow to do some bits and bobs , but what I have noticed is that every time we use the hot water tap in the kitchen or tap from the new downstairs bathroom the shower pump seems to come on?? Its bloody annoying and loud, so much so, that i have turned off the pump and will turn it on as and when i need to use it for a shower downstairs or until it is fixed. Its connected to a plug which is accessible so not too much of an issue and the pressure is too bad with the pump off. All our piping to the kitchen is under the floor (concreted) Boiler (system) is in the utility room with the pump sitting just underneath it. Is there anyway in which we can isolate the pump so that only the shower activates the pump or should the plumber have put in seperate feeds in?? Any advice will help me when i speak to the plumber tomorrow.

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Obviously the pump has been put into the main hot water supply and not into the supply only to the shower Some relocating of the pump to the correct supply I assume your hot supply is from a cylinder if not edit post with correct info so any other suggestions can be made

All shower pumps MUST have a separate cold supply from roof tank & a separate hot water supply from hot water cylinder in airing cupboard. pump will only come on when Flow switch senses water movement & with activate pump. Sounds like supplies could possibly be connected to to existing system So when taps are opened the pump senses movement & comes on. But without seeing the pipework i can't comment further.
