Hall light shows a faint glimmer on the 'off'position

Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.36 PM

Hi everybody I have just noticed, after doing some cleaning (with a damp cloth...), including the switches in the hall, that the hall light now is on , albeit on a very low output'. There are actually two switches in the hallway for this light , but both just either put the light on to full power, or on the 'off'position still showings a faint light, i.e.some power is getting to the bulb. I did take one of the switch covers off to see if anything was obviously amiss and noted that there seemed to be a slight electrical current in the screws? any ideas?

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Its probably an LED lamp. This is normal for some situations. It is not harmful and does eventually fade away.

You may also have a loose connection within your two way switching, either to the CPC (Earth) or to one of the Live conductors. Regards, Carl.

Totally agree with comments about LEDs, there will always be light to a certain extent. The light is created is through changing the amount of electrons on the valence. This means that even tiny amounts of voltage can cause them to emit light.
