Gas Works

Gas pipe encased in cinderblocks we want to demo

Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.36 PM

We have just moved into a house that has a decent sized utility area. Unfortunately that area is eaten into by an old bin store (we believe that’s what it was) on the other houses on our street you can see there is a door that you can access this area from outside however ours is closed off which is why we went it gone The problem is that above this store is the gas meter and the main gas pipe runs into the inner most corner of the store. As such we aren’t sure what type of tradesman we would need to demo the cinderblocks. Would be grateful for any advice and indication of standard pricing

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Hi, it sounds like you need your utility provider to move the main pipe and meter. The supply pipe and the meter belongs to the provider the pipe after that belongs to the homeowner. So this would be a two trade job. If you had the provider out first to give you the new position of the meter you could could get the new pipework installed to that point beforehand by a gas safe registered engineer and then back to do the final connections and testing when the new meter is fitted. Hope this helps.
