not watertight for 6 months--will the timber and build be ruined?

Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.36 PM

I am planning to buy a house that is half renovated. However it has not been watertight since the vendors obviously ran out of money. so rain has been coming in for months (the neighbours apparently have some water ingress issues due to the party wall) Is this going to be okay or will i have rot and damp? thanks

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Thats something definatly I would get checked by a professional, Theres no many variables in this for any one to answer the question correctly on here for example where is the water coming from? external or is there a burst pipe? Is the water be able to sit and stagnate, How much water is getting in :). I wouls certainly get a DAMP survey done to find out the extend of the damage if there is any :) hope this helps.
