Suspended wooden floor-Strange sweet smell

Anonymous user 16/03/2024 - 2.37 PM

Hello, We have a suspended wooden floor and a strange sweet smell coming from the bay window side. We have lifted the the floorboards and looked under the floor where in the void just the other side of the airbrick there was a tiny mark of damp. No other signs of damp. All of this area was ventilated for a week, sprayed with bleach/water, odour eliminators and air fresheners/dehumidifiers left under the floorboards. Then floorboards, membrane and laminate flooring put back in place but still the smell persists. The smell seems linked to a burning sensation in the eyes and face which is not ideal. Any ideas on what this could be and how best to eliminate this smell? Any advice greatly appreciated.

You may need to fit another air brick near the existing one in order to get better airflow (in and out). This is a simple and cost effective potential solution

In my experience if it is a really acrid smell it usually means something has died under their.
