Boiler loosing water pressure after 10-12 days

Anonymous user 16/03/2024 - 2.37 PM

Hi, I live in a new house, only 3 years old. The boiler was installed when the new house was built. On April this year, the boiler started loosing water pressure. I checked around all the heaters, and nothing was leaking anywhere. I had to top up every 5-7 days. I called a plumber out, he said it’s a very small leak, hence why it’s taking so long. He put a sealant in, and that fixed the issue. 2 weeks ago, I had to top up again and this stayed steady for about 12 days. I can see that the pressure is going down slowly yet again, I assume I will have to top up by the end of this week. What should I do? Get the plumber out and ask him to use another sealant? Not sure what to do. Any advise would be appreciated. Thanks. ——— Hi all, Thank you for the response, I have checked the copper outlet outside and there is no water on it. I checked the garden floor and there is nothing there too. If it’s an issue with expansion vessel or membrane how much would it cost?

have you checked the prv outlet small copper tube outside,it could be your expansion vessel needs toping up or the membrane is perished. I would check the small copper tube outside known as the (prv outlet) your expression velve may need topping up witch isn’t a major issue or your membrane has had its day so to speak

Hello there, There is a couple of things you can check yourself before calling in an expert to see why your boiler is losing pressure. 1. Check all ceilings to see if there are any water marks from leaky pipes upstairs. 2. Check all radiator valves run your hand over the pipes and valves and see if there leaking ? 3. Check around the boiler see if there is any wet stains on the floor. 4. Check outside so what ever wall your boiler is on the other side of that wall should be a copper pipe poking out of the wall see if it’s dripping. 5. Failing all the above call in a gas engineer. Hope this helps.
