Strange snail trail up newly painted wall

Anonymous user 16/03/2024 - 2.37 PM

We recently moved into a semi detached house that's around 100 years old and had the hall painted. The joining wall between the two properties has a strange oil/grease/resin that looks like a snail trail running down the wall (approx 20 feet). Our painter is coming back to repaint it but hasn't seen anything like it before. Just wondered if anyone had any thoughts as to what it could be and a solution?

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

To cover any oil like stains that occur on emulation walls will bleed through. Apply a stain block ( oil based ) to cover the area in question. Wait 24 hours for it to dry then re coat to cover .
