Sink makes noise when toilet flushed
Anonymous user 16/03/2024 - 2.37 PM
Hello, When we flush our toilet in a new build house, there is a burping/gurgling noise coming from the sink in the same room. House builder is trying to say it’s nothing to worry about. Is that true?

poor plumbing design or installation, it could be a partial blockage in your drain, it is something to worry about as the noise is the trap syphoning out and allowing smells from drains into the room, you need a qualified plumber to look at it.

Seems that the basin waste has been put in to the 4 inch waste to the toilet a bit to close so when flushing the toilet the water in the basin trap is being sucked & making the noise. I would advise installing a hep non return waste to solve the problem.

Would be worth checking that the soil vent pipe is properly connected in the attic as its is not unusual for the vent pipe to have a blank cap fitted which should be removed and the vent connected to the atmosphere
