Ikea wall cabinets/rail best wall plugs to use

Anonymous user 16/03/2024 - 2.36 PM

I have 2 Ikea Metod cabinets and the Metod rail to fit to a wall. The wall has 9mm plasterboard stuck onto a brick wall. It looks like the previous owner has used No Nails glue to attach the plasterboard so I'll need to drill into plaster and brick. What would be the best wall plugs/screws to use to attach the Metod rail to this wall (cabinets about 20kg all in each) and what depth? The wall is joined onto the neighbours so I can't have anything too long. Many thanks in advance.

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

When we have done this in the past, we use 7 mm brown plugs drilled to the depth of 80 mm. The screws you need are 5.0 by 80 mm, I would recommend a decent screw such as spax or reisser.

I agree with ELX contracting Ltd. Corefix are by far the best product for fastening heavy loads to dot and dab plasterboard walls like you have. Not the cheapest but rock solid.
