Rotten wooden door plinth under French doors

Anonymous user 16/03/2024 - 2.36 PM

Not sure which trade to ask but the wooden exterior base outside the PVC French door to back garden is rotting and needs replacing. Back along I tried to fill the hole with wood filler and then varnished over but now needs professional attention. Would prefer not to have wooden replacement. Please advise best trade to contact.

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

I would advise a glazer or very competent handy man as the French door would need removing to replace the plinth and I couldn't see many reasons why they couldn't fit a pvc one

You need a joiner /to remove cill He will have the tools to remove the old with out removing the hole door And then fit a new plastic cill . Depending on the state of repair of the hole door you my need to replace the lot Just way up the cost of the repair as to Replacing . Goldenconstruction

Hi I’ve changed a few Its a job most Genral builders could do its Just post it as Property maintenance. When you post the Job Take a few pictures Measure it and describe the job correctly it’s a replacement plinth. And then look online for type you require I think some tradespeople call it a freshhold and with a sloped reducer . If you can find what you want in material type and colour that would make the job easier. Need a multi tool cut in middle should come up then ! Good luck I do like a french door
