First floor creaking and bounce in floorboards
Anonymous user 16/03/2024 - 2.36 PM
I own an 18 month old house which we’ve had no end of issues with. Ever since we moved in the flooring in the first floor has creaked. The builder has sent their maintenance people out to fix the same spot 3 times now but the problem persists. The maintenance people say the issue is with a type of screw the NHBC make them use and their answer is to take the screws out and replace them. I’ve also noticed that some of the flooring in the bedroom is bouncy when walked on and the built in cupboard door on that spot now gets stuck on the doorframe as it’s opened. The same maintenance people have suggested this is because this is where the end of the bed is and it’s caused the floor to sag - these are the people the builder is trusting to determine what’s wrong with my floor. Even I know that a floor on a house should stand up to the corner of the bed which leads me to question their expertise. The bounciness and creaking are evident all over the first floor, What is the possible cause of this and who would I need to inspect it to get a definitive answer? Thank you
