Why is my laminate uneven and noisy?
Anonymous user 16/03/2024 - 2.36 PM
Hello, when I move in this apartment I immediately notice that the laminate floor moves when we walk on it. I can feel my partner's steps through the sofa, the bed etc. I can clearly see the laminate going up and now when we step as well as making that cracking noise which is more common with a wood floor. I have read that laminate expand so I am wondering if the cause could be that who put the laminate did not left enough space at the extremities, or it is something more serious going on underneath the flooring? Many thanks

Hi, very common problem when someone done quick job. Subfloor completely not prepared for new Laminate! Uneven areas keep part of the new surface above sub. When you walk on it you hear noise of locks in between boards.
Solution, remove it , prepare subfloor, lay it back if possible 👍

It could be that no expansion has been left around perimeter of floor check this and cut if there is less than 10mm around edges

Hello.
I personally think that underlay is to thick.Thats why you feel some movement of someone walks next to bed where you are resting.
Can not see other reason.
Hope this helps

It seems obvious that the subfloor is uneven. Remove the flooring and level with latex. Replace the flooring.
