A flooring specialist arranged to fit LVT flooring in conservatory.

I asked him to leave flooring a couple of days before as per manufactures instructions. He said no as it does not need it even though conservatory is unheated and he says will be fine as planks are stored in warm warehouse. He is refusing to do the job unless I accept them without acclimatisation. Am I being over cautious? Thanks
Thanks for your answers: As it now happens, the fitter did not turn up to do the job after I queried his intention to lay the LVT without acclimatising it for a couple of days. Back to looking for another tradesman, clearly he did not want the work or he thought, me being elderly and female he could do what he wanted.
Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?
I wouldn't say your being over cautious. I've laid flooring myself where I havent given time it to climatise with no problems but there is always a chance something could go wrong and it could backfire on yourself. Better to be safe than sorry I would say if theres no big rush for the floor to be laid
Do exactly as the manufacturer specifies. If unsure phone the technical dept from whichever brand of flooring you have purchased . (Ie karndean head office )
They will happily email you an install guide over and data sheets .
you can use this to cross check your installers advice .
Lvts installed in hot areas like conservatory’s where temperatures are likely go about 28 degrees are prone to fail . so don’t take an chances .
You were correct. The 'floorlayer' wasn't.
That's why he scarpered cos you knew more than him. You've had a lucky escape as it's clear his finish would have been so poor, you would have needed it to be replaced again.
To be honest it depends on the quality or brand of the product?
98% off flooring failures result because of an installation error and almost always the manufacturer will push you back to the installer so make sure you have an installation warranty!
Our installs are backed by the manufacturer as quickstep master installers, so if the was ever a problem we would put it right!!
I would say you are being perfectly reasonable and good floorlayer would leave the product to acclimatise in the environment its being fitted in for atleast 24 hours before install as it reduces the risk of any mishaps in the future
