Fallen locking pins on patio doors

Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 3.16 PM

Afternoon. I have an old style aluminium sliding patio door. On the door itself it has these pins/screws that come out and pushed up or down into the holes on the frame All 5 pins/screws have fallen off their mechanism and now I can’t lock the door. I try to screw them back in but it feels like some mechanism behind it has fallen How do I fix this? Do I need to open the whole door up? If so any suggestions on how. Thank you

You’ll need a new locking shoot bolt mechanism, if the doors are old you may struggle to find the parts. My advise would be If affordable, replace the whole door.

You need new mech without doubt if you have lost screws it's very hard to tell without seeing it but I would recommend new mech if you can see mech it may have mech name on it but by sounds it's new mech some older mechs are obsolete but there are new types that are or have been made to replace original or some sites on ebay have the older type also you say it feels like something as fallen down this could be a small nut that holds screw/bolt in place
