Loft conversion roof insulation

We have just converted our loft and need to insulate the roof, our current plans says we should use a 100mm of Kingspan TP10 insulation in between the rafters and 400mm insulated plasterboard to achieve a u-value of 0.18. We are trying to keep as much head height as possible so want to avoid using insulated plasterboard. The rafter depth is 200mm so we can add more insulation between the rafters but not sure if we are allowed to use just plain plasterboard or do you have to use some insulated plasterboard?

your insulated plaster board is to prevent cold spots , but think your architect may have miss printed the thickness of insulated plaster board you require 40mm is about right 400mm you will not find anywhere i would double check with them that there calculations are right you also require an air gap between the felt and the insulation of 50mm good luck Alex

If your rafters are 200mm, put 140mm of Kingspan in between the rafters which would be the same overall thickness, and then put foilback plasterboard on you would lose any head hight .hope this help
