Magnet flat-pack kitchen units
Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 3.15 PM
Just wondering how straightforward it is to build flat-pack kitchen units from Magnet. I’m considering it to keep costs down and building them myself prior to builders coming in and fitting/installing. Have built a variety of flat pack furniture from Ikea/B&Q but are there any foreseeable issues like with the soft-close drawers being tricky etc? Thanks for any insight!

It’s pretty simple. If you diy it, they won’t be very helpful if you make mistakes as it will be easy to blame your lack of training and experience.

Hi Lauren
they are relatively easy for anyone with basic knowledge of DIY
they all come with instructions , I do advise help when building 1000 base units or larder units as these can be a bit tricky due to size and weight
hope this helps

They’re actually really easy to put together and will come with instructions. Just make sure you glue all the holes for the wooden dowels while fixing together. If you put the legs on you need to make them the height of the plinth and allow for the sealing strips, usually an extra 5-10mm.

From past experience it’s easier to let your fitting to build the units as they put them together fast! To be fair it’s worth buying rigid built units as they are all glued properly etc
I you think about the time you will spend putting the units together and how much quicker it is to fit rigid units it’s a no brainier?
Ps dont use magnets
Howdens all day long
