Fog horn noise from hot water tap
Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 3.15 PM
On random occasions about half an hour after running a bath the fog horn starts only stops when we run any hot water tap. Also just starting one radiator vibrating, stopped when I turned thermostat slightly up never happened before. Are the two things connected.

Hi Mac. Only if you have water tanks in the loft... then it is likely to be the inlet valve resonating when nearing to having filled the tank. New washers or valve will do most times. Not sure why your rads do it! Good luck, Bob.

Hi, These two issues would not be connected, the fog horn noise would be the inlet valve in the cold feed tank In the loft, you can replace the diagram washer inside the valve or replace with a new inlet valve, this should solve your issue.

As above it could be the ball valve in the loft, however this sometimes happens when the cartridges on a mixer tap fail and cause the pipework in the house to vibrate. I would recommend getting a plumber to inspect where the noise is coming from and replace the necessary seals.
