How to cut/stop hot water in a conventional boiler with a hot water tank?
Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 3.15 PM
I there, I have a conventional boiler with a hot water tank and cold water tank in the attic and I'm looking to change my hot water taps, however there's is no cockstop nearby the taps . So i was wondering if there is another way of cutting/stopping the hot water to change the taps? Thank you in advance

there should be a valve on cold supply to cylinder either in cylinder cupboard or next to tank in loft,if there are none you will have to shut of main to tank in loft drain it all down then change taps,if you have to do this you could also put in valves for future use.

There should be a 'gate valve' in your airing cupboard next to your
cylinder. This will stop the cold water entering the cylinder and pushing the hot water through to your taps. Failing this, you could always use rubber bungs in your roof tank.
