Underfloor heating not functioning well

Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 3.15 PM

We have electric underfloor heating and new flooring laid. Then had a leakage problem in the bathroom next door which went under the floor boards. It is now dried and the underfloor heating would heat up to a certain temperature but would just cut off. 1. What would be the possible issues? 2. How would one fix it without completely destroying the new floor? Thanks.

If you have voltage going too the mat then there's a good chance the heating mat is damaged and will need replacing

The mat or thermostatic sensor may have been damaged by the damp, the only way to know for sure would be for an electrician to test it

If you have the details of the flooring or if you can obtain them from the installer. This is in relation to the power rating. Then an electrician can easily determine the parameters and check your floor element is good BEFORE you go destroying the finished floor surface.
