GPR or Felt roof - which is best for flat roof

Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 3.34 PM

Hi, I have a new extension with a flat roof and redoing a flat roof on a square bay window. The builder recommended GPR on both and will fit. However a roofer came to look at my chimney and told me GPR isn't good as it sweats and can't breath and makes the wood rot. Which is the best roof to get? Summary as I understand it 1. If I get felt, I will need to replace it quicker 2. Alternatively GPR lasts longer, but when need to replace, I will need to replace all the wood too? Help. Thanks!

To be honest both have there down sides I use EPDM rubber so much better and supposed to last upto 50 years approximately so much quicker and more efficient to install to

We would recommend using epdm rubber because grp fibreglass always cracks & lets water in then it gets trapped

GRP doesn’t rot the wood, and when a flat roof needs replacing no mater what you have it’s highly likely the boards will need replacing. GRP is the best product on the market for flat roofing that is “affordable” it’s the most expensive affordable option though but it’s proven and it’s lasts they build boats out of GRP for a reason. Obviously lead flat roofs are far better but they aren’t affordable to most people. Regards Frankie BT Roofing Services

Grp is the best product and will not cause rot or condensation if correctly insatelled. Felt and EPDM are old hat....
