Changed a light switch now in 2 rooms the lights don't work

Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 3.34 PM

I changed the hallway light switches now the 2 front bedrooms lights won't work, the back room and bathroom do though, I know it has to be a circuit thing with the dual hallway switch but can't figure it out, I took a picture and wired it exactly the same way even though the switch was a slightly different layout. I have a live in each L1 and neutral is both L2 Ports. I have 1 live going 1 comm port and 2 Into the other comm port with a wire bridging the two comm ports togethet. I'm guessing the bridge between the 2 comms is what gives upstairs its power if I remove that the bathroom and back bedroom won't work either but with it in I can't get the 2 front rooms to work? any ideas? heres the before and after photo of the light switch https://ibb.co/N2qRXNx https://ibb.co/ZJ9dsCF basically this light switch controls the hallway and the upstairs landing light when you walk out of the kitchen and the hallway has another single switch next to front door. also the landing light has its own switch upstairs thanks matt

I wouldn’t even try to sort this out remotely with anyone. You need an electrician in to sort out and do it safely. Easy job for someone who knows what they are doing.

Have you only changed switches? Which switch does what? If you could provide a link to the photos of all the switches you have changed and provide details of the lights they switch. (Be CAREFUL not to touch any terminals and make sure it is switched off at the fuse board first.) I will try and give you an answer. ——— Both those pictures are the same. It is just a simple two-gang two-way switch. I have good idea, but certainty would help. Could you provide the links again? ——— Just looked on my laptop rather than phone they are different I will link the two photos with the wires identified as left1-4 and right 1-3 It looks like you have swapped r1 and r3. It’s very hard to tell as you have cleaned them and tidied them up. They do look a lot better now. https://ibb.co/ngYdrW1 https://ibb.co/gdsvWWS ——— If it’s not that try and do what I have done but using your memory of how you have moved the wires. I suspect it could be L2 and L4 if not R1 and R3. They have changed a lot in-between the pictures. One good tip for this sort of stuff in future, is to label them before you tidy them. Do you play fortnite? If so have you got discord? I can talk you through it over VOIP if you need.
