Soil pipe joint's broken collar.
Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 3.33 PM
Hello, We noticed that soil pipe's joint's (the t joint which connects the WC) bottom collar is broken (around 40%). Although there are no leaks, but It appears two weeds grew and managed to settle pretty well into the broken area. It's been like this since we moved in (4+ years) and we only noticed this now when tried to get rid of the weeds. It also appears the joint may be made of clay (it's a 1950's house). My question is, do we need to address this? If so, will it be something simple or we need to replace the whole system? Thank you in advance.

Hello. "bottom collar is broken (around 40%). Although there are no leaks". Without the benefit of a photo I guess it's just cosmetic. Can it be repaired with some concrete, something like quick-cem which can be molded if you are quick enough, allegedly. Good luck, Bob.

I would remove toilet.
Take pan connector away.
Free floor around the clay collar enough to cut away and the bend and replace with a rubber sleave and attach a new plastic elbow.
Rebed flooring after testing and reposition the toilet.
