How to check if my DVR box is genuine

Hi So basically I had a recent installation to include 4 Hikvision cameras and DVR box 2TB. Upon inspecting the date of purchase on the DVR box it says 03/2018. Should this be an area of concern as it feels like I have paid for something out of warranty. Is there a way to check on this to work out if its not okay using serial number. Kindest Regards Ali

Who did you purchase it from? You can ring the manufacturer or the seller and query the warranty registration date. You can’t be sure what has been altered within it, unless you have bought it from a reputable source.

The manufacture date is to my knowledge pretty irrelevant in terms of the warranty. Your warranty is with the company who installed it, from the day it was purchased/installed. Presuming you used a reputable Hikvision registered company!

Hi, The warranty on your recorder will begin from the date of installation/installation. I think the firmware could possibly do with updating but other than that you have nothing to worry about providing you purchased the equipment from a reputable source. Kindest regards
