Garage door insulation
Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 3.33 PM
Hello. We are looking for advice to insulate our garage door as the garage is very cold and has a bedroom above it and a room to the side of it. Is it best to buy an insulation kit for it or replace the door with an insulated door? Does this fall under the Green Homes Grant? If we should get a kit, which one is best

Hi you could insulate the garage ceiling materials dependant on ceiling type) and the room wall could be insulated from either side either by dry-lining or applying Wallrock kv600
(A Google search should answer some questions)

The previous answer is spot on, as insulating both ceiling & walls are certainly recommended however dry lining will encroach on your available space and plastered walls are best avoided for garages as gypsum absorbs moisture and smells . In answer to your question I would recommend buying a new insulated door (supply & fit) as this will dramatically increase your U value. I'm doubtful the green deal will be available for your garage, especially if you already have double glazing.
