RESITRIX Or Old fashion Felt?
Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 3.33 PM
Hi all Due to the recent flat roof leak on the kitchen extension, I am looking to get a new roof. I believe my floorboards are still good, I have been recommended RESITRIX instead of old styled felt, what is your expert opinion on this? Many thanks in advance

Hello I would go for the felt option every day of the week. Layer of perforated tacked to the deck layer of two mil torched onto that then green torched on top finished job I’ve got felt roofs done like that 35 years plus. We Check them every year for some customers and never have to touch them.

Resitrix has been designed for the DIYer in mind and when it comes to flat roofing a DIY job is asking for future problems. EPDM (resitrix is made of this but in 1 metre wide roll and joined) in general is a good material for flat roofs, but for best results, only when applied in one piece. Resitrix is also a single layer system whereas felt systems are multi layered and therefore the roof system is thicker and safer. Go for an SBS high performance 3 layer system and it's done for the life of the building...oh and a professional flat roofer to install or it won't :-)

someone who installs felt will clearly tell you felt is better. i install variety of flat roofing applications on commercial and domestic properties.i have installed resitrix on national rail switchboard and relay centres. i have installed it on numerous new schools and re roofs. felt was good back in the day but now better options are widely available . most felters these days are in their 50s and are too scared to try other systems.
