Downstairs rads cold and banging noise

Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 3.33 PM

Hi, In the morning all my rads come on. In the evening the downstairs ones are either tepid or cold. Also in the evening I get a loud clunking noise every 15/20 mins which seems to come from the pipework. Any Ideas Thanks

Yes the noise is air trapped in the system, with heating off the air needs tk be bled and system balanced.

its Trapped air in your system that needs to be released or your system may need to be flushed.

Yes partly , there could be several problems with your heating system , 1 As said previously air in the system and balance 2The system also sounds like it could do with a power and balance 3There could be a leak on the return pipe which will suck air into the system when running

Hi , if you have a conventional system ( ie: hot water cylinder in airing cupboard), if so you’re circulating pump needs replacing, this is what pumps water around the radiators and when you get a weak pump it causes the boiler to over heat creating banging in the pipes. I hope this helps, Tim
